The snow has melted much faster this year since we didn't get as much as usual. We are already working in the garden to prepare the soil for the vegetable garden. We are enlarging it again this year and it's a lot of work, but I love working outside. We never have enough space for all the vegetables we want to grow. This year, Ellie wanted to grow pumpkins and they take lots of space. :) I have tons of beads on my specials page today. Well maybe not tons, but a lot. I devided them into small groups, but many of the small sets would go great together. I just thought it would be more convenient for you to assemble the sets as you want them. It's tax time, maybe that's why I've been procrastinating so much... It's really cold today, although it still feels like Spring is coming soon. And... it's Spring break for my 6 year old Ellie... She's been driving me nuts... Not that I have any trouble with her, she is so sweet... but I can't find time to work and I can't afford taking a vacation right now. Oh well... Talk to you more soon, Marie Friday, January 9 Hello everyone, Hope you all had a wonderful Holiday and I wish you a great New Year filled with joy and peace. :) We had a great holiday and took some time to relax and unwind, so we are in great shape to start the new year. All three of us took up karate 3-4 months ago, and we are so hooked on it, that the every year resolution of getting fit is no longer hard for us to keep. Who would have thought, a few months back, that I would be doing karate and love it. I would have called that person crasy. :) But I think it's the best decision we have taken in a long time. Even Ellie (our 6 year old girl) likes it. Now all I have to do is eat better, try not to stress too much and keep the house clean. Yikes, that's harder to do then karate... :) On the bead front, I have cleaned the bead box and assembled a few clearance sets to sell on my Specials page. Not that I'm in a hurry to have some, but I admit that it's much prettier at this time of the year when everything is white. :) I have some new beads on my specials page right now if you want to shop for beads at a low price. They are clearance beads, but are still very nice. I also have great beads on Etsy right now, especially if you like pink. I think I got a bit carried away with the color. :) If you don't want to register on the Etsy site and would like some of these beads tell me, I can sell them from here. I also wanted to tell you that I won't take any new special orders for a while (unless you already contacted me for one lately). I'm full until Christmas. After the Holidays I will see. In the meantime I will try to list beads regularly on Etsy, on my website and on eBay. If you have color suggestions though, don't hesitate to ask. Cheers, Marie Tuesday, October 14 Hello everyone, Yesterday was our Thanksgiving here in Canada and we took advantage of the three days vacation and the nice weather do some work outside, have fun and just to relax. It was great to have some time together, just the three of us. Ellie and I did some Halloween decorations that we put outside and we made some bread, so it smelled delicious in the house. We invited my sister-in-law and her husband home for the turkey dinner, and as usual when we invite them, they left at about 9h00pm. We do the same when we visit them. Is it because we are all over 40, but we appreciate not going to bed too late. It's almost a running gag that we have with them, at about 8h00pm we look at the clock and say: "Oh my God, it's running late, we have to go". :) So it was quite simple and relaxing. I'm quite busy these days finishing some bead orders, so I might not list too many beads, except for small sets on my specials page and clearance sets as I finish orders and have left overs. Let me tell you that now I unplug every electronic device in the house the minute I hear thunder. Maybe I'm over reacting a little, I don't know. :) If you don't understand what I'm talking about, read yesterday's post. I didn't take a picture of the trees in the backyard yet, I'll wait for a more sunny day. We have had a LOT of rain this summer, don't know how it's been at your place. They say it's the continuation of the bad winter that we had... I sure hope it won't continue also next Autumn and Winter. Gee... Ok, so here are the details of the "disaster sale". From now until midnight Friday August 15, everything in my Etsy shop and my specials page with be 15% less. It will be 20% less if you buy for over $100.00 and shipping will be free. Of course, you can combine purchases from my website to your purchases from my Etsy store. Just wait for a revised invoice before paying. Cheers, Marie Monday, August 11 Hello everyone, I was quite silent in the last month, although it wasn't because of a lack of things to say or of things happening. It's the city of Quebec's 400th anniversary and so much is going on in town, although I admit that I haven't been there much. I prefered my country retreat to the crowds. One thing that I'm still banging my head on the wall about, is missing Paul McCartney's FREE outdoor concert!!! I still can't believe I didn't go. Ok, maybe it was because there were 250 000 people there and I thought we would get pushed and shoved, that we wouldn't see or hear much and that we wouldn't be able to get home before 2 or 3 in the morning. And because it was on a Sunday and I would have had to find a babysitter from about 3 oclock in the afternoon until 3 at night, and because we were working the next day... All bad excuses. When I saw the concert on TV, I noticed how all the people (mostly my age and up) were well behaved and not so squeezed one against and over the other. And the people I know who went to see it still rave about it... What can I say... Another BIG event is Celine Dion's (still free) outdoor concert this month. But I'm not much of a Celine fan. She is great and talented and all, but this time, I do prefer my country retreat. :) I've also been on vacation in Maine last week. It was great and I wish I was still there. Another thing that happened..., not so nice thing... Just before we left for our trip, we had a huge thunderstorm. During the night, the lightning fell so close to the house, that we woke up suddenly and I even let out a scream. We thought it was across the street to our neighbours house. We didn't notice much about it the next day since we were leaving early in the morning... except that the phone wasn't working anymore. Turned out, the lightning fell on the house or the electric cables, not sure, but lots of things weren't working when we got back home. All the electric and electronic appliances that weren't on a power bar broke down... including... my oxygen concentrator... :( I won't be able to make beads for a little while. I have to order another one... and pay for another one... which I hadn't planned on right after being back from our trip. :( I will try to make a few beads with my Hot Head, but with small MAPP tanks I don't think I will be making much. Maybe some spacers. I gathered a few left over beads to sell on my specials page as clearance sets, so you can visit this page if you are in need of beads. And I think I will have a "disaster sale" (better laugh about it a little) on Etsy and my website tomorrow (Tuesday August 12) until... I'm not sure, a couple of days. I want to gather a bit of money to buy a new concentrator. So I'll let you know when the sale ends later. I will also give you all the details of the sale tomorrow morning here on this page. Well, it's life... we are alive and well and it's only material stuff. It could have been much worse. Tomorrow I might show you pictures of what that lightning did to our trees in the back yard... Take care, Marie Monday, July 14 You haven't heard much from me lately, and my Etsy shop was pretty empty the last two weeks... I had a arts and crafts show the 4,5 and 6th of July, so I emptied the shop to use the beads in my creations and devoted most of my time to the show. It went well, but I was a bit exhausted the days after, so I took it easy. Well... for a little while only since I had to organize my daughter's birthday party. That was this Saturday. Amongst other things, I organized a treasure hunt and put a lot of time into it, but you know what, they resolved it in about 20 minutes! Ellie just turned 6 years old but she had many of her older friends (8 and 9 years old) so the clues were much too easy for them to resolve. They had a lot of fun anyway, so the party was a success. Now I'm back on the torch and I have to finish a few special orders, but I have some new sets on Etsy (all etched beads) and a few leftover sets of beads on my specials page. I should have new beads on Etsy soon since I want to refill my shop. I will also list some of the jewelry pieces I brought back home after the show, so if you would like to see them or the new beads, visit the shop often. Cheers, Marie Thursday, March 27 Hello everyone, I'm finally back here after a distressing computer breakdown. I had finally done my taxes and was about to send it by internet. I was a couple of clicks away when the computer completely broke down. Grrrrr.... The computer is good for the garbage, we lost everything... except for the hard drive, thank goodness. We had to buy another computer and since we were on Windows XP and are now on Vista, many of our sofwares are not working anymore. Grrrr.... I have to figure out how the thing works now and use other softwares, so there might be some glitches on my website. One thing I have to figure out, is how to recover my emails. That is the reason I didn't send a notice that I listed new beads to everyone on my mailing list yet. Hope I'll be able to do it soon. If I can't recuperate them, I'll will ask you to resend me your email. I might use Bravenet to build my mailing list, but I'm not sure yet. If you have some ideas about that or some reserve, tell me. I know that I won't give emails to a third party but I don't know about Bravenet. So..., I've got new beads on my specials page! :) You can have a look at them (that page is not quite at it's best, but I'll take care of it soon). And of course I've got beads on Etsy also. Cheers, Marie Monday, March 10 Hi, We survived AGAIN a big snowstorm Saturday, but we almost couldn't get out of the house the day after. There was snow over my head ON the door. Never thought that would happen. Couldn't open the front door either. The back door was clear, thank goodness, so we could shovel all the white stuff off of the door. Gees... It's been snowing almost every day this winter (I'm exagerating just a bit). Really, I've never seen so much snow. Should take a picture of houses a couple of streets from here to show you. Well, you wouldn't see the houses actually, because of the mountain of snow in from of them. Oh well... Tomorrow we are going to a friend's house who lives just minutes from a ski station (a real mountain this time). My daughter Ellie is supposed to have a sky lesson. Here, as you might have guessed, it's a big proccupation for most of us. We check the weather forecast all the time to decide how to dress in the morning, to know if the schools will close or if we can hit the road without trouble. Sometimes I wish I could live in Mexico, but then there would be smog allerts (although we sometimes have those too). All this to say that yesterday we had rain, sun, freezing rain, snow, high winds... all you can think of, or almost. Today is a cold sunny day, so the roads and sidewalks turned into a skating rink... and tomorrow we expect a big snowstorm... arrrgh...CAN'T WAIT FOR SPRING! Ok, stop complaining. Quebec is a great place to live, we have a great winter carnaval beginning soon and spiders and bugs don't get too big in summer. :) Maybe you have noticed that I'm moving beads again. I listed some beads on eBay that were previously on Etsy. You can have a look at them here, and maybe if you had seen them before and liked them, you might have them at a lower price now. I will list new ones eventually. Speaking of new beads (or relatively new), I have some new sets of beads on my specials page. They are great clearance sets. Hope you like them. Well now it's done, even if it's a bit late. May this year bring you health, peace an serenity and everything that your heart desires. In these times, it may be hard to be optimistic about life and our future, but if I had one resolution that I wanted to take and to keep this year it would be to be more aware, all the time, of all the beautiful things around me, because if I look around I realize that I have a lot to be thankful for. So now that my eyes are wide open... maybe I can make lots of new beads and offer them to you. :) Speaking of beads, I might not have any new ones on eBay or on my specials page (there should be some more soon), but I have great beads on Etsy. I had a nice visit of a customer last Friday and she left with a lot of the beads I was planning to list on that page. Cheers, Marie Wednesday, December 5 Hello everyone, Last time I told you that we had a little snow and it was probably here to stay....  Well, a few days after that, we had at least 40 cm of it, that's about 16 inches! And it's still snowing. So far we've had a fourth of all the snow we usually get in a winter.  Even our dog Tilou seems overwhelmed. Somewhere under that big bump is our pile of wood for the winter. I guess if I want to have a nice little fire in the fireplace I'd better get a hold of that shovel and dig. I had a nice surprise this morning. My beads got featured in an wonderful artist's blog.
